Teaching Means Being (Or Becoming) - A Lovely Post by Brandy Vencel
As Brandy so wisely states, "Long before the age of information, there was character." In today's world our children are influenced on every front, and whether they attend public school OR are homeschooled, teachers can have a great influence. It is isn't enough that teachers "know stuff", it is important that they be someone that their students will strive to model.
Whether you are a public school teacher or a homeschool mom, this article will inspire you to lead your students by example, and to be the person that you hope your students will one day become.

Charlotte Mason's Original Volumes (In Modern English)
"Now, that work which is of most importance to society is the bringing up and instruction of the children––in the school, certainly, but far more in the home, because it is more than anything else the home influences brought to bear upon the child that determine the character and career of the future man or woman. It is a great thing to be a parent: there is no promotion, no dignity, to compare with it."

If you prefer to add these lovely books to your library,
you can find hard copies at any one of these links.
Living Book Press – They have released all the volumes. These are the ones I purchased and I love my set. They offer the volumes individually or in a set and have beautiful hardcover choices as well.
Simply Charlotte Mason – They offer a larger sized book, thick workbook size volume, to be able to mark and keep notes in the wide margins.
The School Teacher's Creed
I believe in boys and girls, the men and women of a great tomorrow; that whatsoever a boy soweth, a man shall reap. I believe in the cure of ignorance, effacy of schools, in the dignity of teaching, and in the joy of serving others. I believe in wisdom as revealed in human lives as well as in the pages of a printed book; in lessons taught, not so much by precept as by example; in ability to work with the hands as well as think with the head; in everything that makes life large and lovely. I believe in beauty in the school room, in the home, in daily life, and in out-of-doors. I believe in laughter, in love, in faith, in all ideals and distant hopes that lure us on. I believe that every hour of every day we receive a just reward for all we are and all we do. I believe in the present and its opportunities, in the future and its promises and in the divine joy of living. Amen.
The Mother's First Duty
"In this time of extraordinary pressure, educational and social, perhaps a mother's first duty to her children is to secure for them a quiet and growing time, a full six years of passive, receptive life, the waking part of it, for the most part, spent out in the fresh air."
